Abstract

In this research work, fibre, sliver and yarn wastes of flax and LDPE wastes are used to produce composite products for fencing and boarding panel applications. With fibre to matrix volume fraction of 50:50 and for the pre planned production of 1kg of composite product, the materials have been weighed and using compression moulding machine composite samples have been produced. Mechanical testing and characterizations have been made for; impact resistance, tensile, compression and flexural strength performances. In almost all the characterizations made, the flax-LDPE composite product shows comparable and better performance properties in comparison to the commercially available fencing and boarding panel products.
